Overweight And Married? How To Get Fit, And Have Fun Doing It
Terez A Heavy Burden
It's probably safe to say that one of the most pressing health issues facing Americans today is obesity.
Maintaining a healthy weight in our current culture can seem like a losing battle. We are constantly tempted by fast food, over-processed frozen dinners, and junk food galore.
I know this because staying fit has been a challenge in my own life since I was a child.
When we are overweight, it's often very hard on our confidence and self-esteem. We tend to be more self-conscious. I know when I'm at my heaviest, I tend to wear clothing two sizes too big. It's as if, subconsciously, I am ashamed of my appearance and am trying to put a barrier between myself and the world.
The Challenge For Married Couples
For married couples where either one or both partners are overweight, maintaining intimacy can be difficult. If you don't feel attractive or desirable, those feelings can put distance between you and your mate.
While doing research for this post, I came across a wonderful website, FitMarriage.com. This site's goals are to provide resources for couples wanting to get fit by providing helpful videos, articles, book recommendations, etc.
Video: How One Influential, Married Blogger Got Healthy
FitMarriage.Com conducted a great interview with blogging superstar, Leo Babauta. In this video, Leo shares exactly how both he and his wife achieved their weight loss goals. He also explains how other married couples can do the same, and have fun as well:

Now, It's YOUR Turn!
Personally, I also enjoy Leo's blogs and writings. His book, The Minimalist Guide To A Simple Life, provides great insights on how to remove many of the distractions in our daily lives that prevent us from attaining the goals we really want to achieve - including losing weight and staying fit.
Leo is married with six kids - and he has lost over 50 pounds! He knows what he is speaking of, so definitely check his book out.
