How to Use Twitter to Spice Up Your Love Life

Like it or not, the wildly popular microblogging service Twitter seems here to stay. People use Twitter for all kinds of reasons under the sun: keeping in touch with family/friends, networking, shameful self-promotion, discovering breaking news events, keeping track of celebrities, etc.
However, did you realize it can also be used to add zest to your love life?
Think about it, a growing complaint among couples is finding the time for romance with their over-loaded, hectic schedules.
Fortunately, this is where Twitter can help with its direct messaging (DM) feature. Most people do not realize just how versatile Twitter's DM feature really is.
Direct messaging on Twitter allows for the sending and receiving of private messages between users who "follow" each other.
Sadly, the DM feature has gotten a lot of negative press lately due to users being spammed to death with unsolicited sales pitches.
However, many couples are redeeming this feature by using it to stay connected to each other.
One creative way of accomplishing this goal is by using Twitter's DM feature to send special messages directly to their partners.
For example, a friend of mine, Catherine, is married to James, a business consultant. James' job requires him to travel frequently.
So, when he is away, Catherine direct messages James little "love" notes she composes herself. She tells me, "it's just a brief way to let him know during his day I'm thinking of him."
Other types of romantic messages couples send to each other using the DM feature include:
- brief passages from favorite poems or novels
- links to photographs
- romantic quotations
- date scheduling
- links to special songs
Imagine what a thrill it would be for your partner to receive those special messages direct from you! You will be on their mind throughout the day, which helps to build anticipation for when they see you again.
However, let me warn you of one important, potential pitfall to using this strategy: if you make the mistake of sending your partner a regular message instead of a DM, whatever you send will be visible to the public!
Please remember to avoid any embarrassment by making sure you are using Twitter's DM feature when composing any messages intended only for your mate.
Even though face-to-face communication is best, there are often occasions when circumstances prevent it. During those times, Twitter can be a powerful tool to help you stay connected to your partner.
